Today we did a 1 Km timed swim in the pool after a month of working on drills and balance. the idea for this workout is not so much how fast you can go but rather can you hold great form for a long period of time. I really like to encorporate Time Trials (or test workouts) every 4 weeks for my athletes so that we can see how the training is going and if we need to make any changes. The Fall season is a great time to do run time trials in the form of running races. They can be 5, 10 or 21Km in distance or other type. I prefer that these be run in a race setting but not absolutely necessary.
